Diana wants to end our need for plastic bags

"About one billion plastic bags are given out in Yorkshire & the Humber Region every year," says Diana Wallis MEP, President of Haltemprice & Howden Liberal Democrats. "And it must be stopped."

"Plastic bags litter our environment, pollute our seas and bring death to wildlife. It is time real action was taken to clear the plastic bag mountain," says the local Liberal Democrat MEP.

Since launching her campaign in Leeds three years ago to charge for plastic bags, Diana has travelled across the region with her message for shoppers to switch to reusable ones. In 2007 she launched her own free cotton shopping bags.

"By using environmentally friendly reusable bags like these we can all reduce the impact of plastic bags on our planet, says Diana.
