"This could be where a new Olympic Champion begins," says Lib Dem Cllr Gary Cooper

"At last our youngsters have something they can shout about," said Cllr Gary Cooper, Chair of King George V playing fields in Cottingham. "No longer do they have to travel many miles to get to their favourite BMX track and who knows, a new Olympic Champion might very well start learning here."

In his address at the official opening of the Park by its designer Graham Taylor, Cllr Cooper said how delighted he was to be associated with it. The Park was the result of local efforts coupled with support from the East Riding of Yorkshire Council. It will act as a magnet for BMX talent from miles around as well as providing an exciting venue for local riders to 'hang out' as they develop their talents and show what they can do.
