Funfair raises funds for Haltemprice Skate Park

12.10.00pm GMT Mon 26th May 2008

Lib Dem Parish Councillor Steve Kersey is delighted that over £2,000 has been raised for improving the Skate Park by holding a funfair on the King George V playing fields in Willerby. Steve organised the event with International Fun Fairs to raise funds for extra ramps and maintenance of the park, which is next to Haltemprice Leisure Centre in Gorton Rd.

As reported in the east Riding Advertiser, more than 5,000 people visited the four day fair while Cllr Kersey said,"It was an absolute success and everything we hope to achieve became a reality. I hope it will be only the first of many such fund raising events. Next time we may even go bigger and have a carnival atmosphere with majorettes and classic cars."

David Nolan, Chair of the Haltemprice Skate Park Association said, "It was a great event. The money will go towards providing smaller ramps for younger children and for better seating. To raise the funds half the entry fee went to the Skate Park. Although it is already being well used the park will be officially opened soon."
