Haltemprice & Howden Vice Chair Anita Kay with John Leech MP for Manchester Withington
On Friday 11th of December Haltemprice & Howden members helped Hull North to celebrate Christmas by attending their annual Christmas Dinner, which this year was held at Dante's Restaurant in Chanterland's Avenue in Hull.
Ex Haltemprice & Howden Chair Denis Healy, now Hull North's PPC played host to guest speaker John Leech MP who won Manchester Withington with a 17% swing from Labour in 2005. John is presently Lib Dem Shadow Transport Minister. In his speech he inspired everyone to keep up the pressure on Hull North, which requires a much smaller swing to fall to the Lib Dems at the next election.

Denis made an impassioned speech declaring how much he cared about improving the lives of everyone who lives in the constituency. He went on to say that Hull in particular had been taken for granted and let down by Labour.
Carl Minns, Lib Dem Leader of Hull City Council reminded everyone at the dinner that a mere 12 years ago Hull had only one Lib Dem Councillor, two Tories and nearly 60 Labour Councillors. Today the Lib Dems run the Council with a comfortable majority and have got used to voting for the Liberal Democrats.
