Chris takes questions from the floor
"What a terrific evening," was the most commonly heard verdict on the Haltemprice & Howden Dinner held at the Millhouse Restaurant on Friday 27th of February. The food was mouth wateringly good and Chris Huhne made an uplifting and memorable speech which raised the spirits.
Anita poses a question to Chris
"Labour could find themselves in meltdown at the next General Election," said Chris, "and this has clear implications for constituencies like Hull North." Besides the many members and activists from Haltemprice & Howden there were also representatives from Beverley & Holderness, Hull & Goole. Chris concluded, "So as many Liberal Democrats as possible should support Denis in his bid to become the next MP for Hull North."
Chris was then asked if the Liberal Democrats should try to persuade both Labour & the Tories to support Proportional Representation to prevent parties like the BNP from capitalising on the suffering caused by the recession? In answer to the question Chris said, "Both Labour & the Conservatives are softening in their attitudes towards PR, which is good news for all of us. PR will add greater strength to our democracy and act as a bulwark to extremism."
