Speaking at a standing room only venue Charles Kennedy gave the Jean Monnet Lecture at Hull University on Thursday 26th of February. Invited by Dr Rudi Wurzel of the Politics Department Charles spoke on a Federal Europe and its global importance.
He spelt out the crucial role played by the UK as a powerful link between Europe & the USA. Charles also underlined the importance of being able to take an independent line from the USA especially over issues like the war in Iraq. But he made it clear that we need to bring the question of the Euro closer to the top of the political agenda, especially in these financially turbulent times.
After the lecture Charles was quizzed by students and lecturers alike on his position from issues like the War on Terror to reform of the UK electoral system.
