Lord David Shutt speaks to local Lib Dems
" We must get our message out on cutting taxes for low and average earners and stopping unnecessary repossessions as well as on cutting energy bills and interest rates," said the guest speaker at the Beverley & Holderness Annual Dinner on Friday 24th of October. Lord Shutt, Lib Dem Chief Whip in the House of Lords inspired local Lib Dems with his passionate and entertaining speech at the Lairgate Hotel in Beverley.
He said, "The new Lib Dem policy of cutting taxes for low and average income earners will do more to help the economy recover than simply exhorting the banks to lend to each other. In this unprecedented financial crisis ordinary people must be helped as well as the banks. This means cutting energy bills as well as helping people to insulate their homes. It also means cutting interest rates to allow small businesses to weather the financial hurricane."
This radical shift in Lib Dem policy is part of a clear plan to make Britain fairer as well as being the best way to tackle the enormous problems we face as a nation.
