When Anita Kay was the Liberal Democrat East Riding ward councillor, she launched a campaign in 2005 for additional parking facilities at Brough Railway Station. Now that the car park has been opened to the delight of both commuters and residents, Anita says, "It's wonderful to see the car park ready now."
Anita went on to say, " The lack of car park spaces hasn't just been a problem for residents in the area who were not able to park their cars where they live, but also frustrated commuters who were sometimes struggling to find car parking spaces."
Anita officially parked the first car there and said," It's been a good partnership scheme with East Riding Council, the Department of Transport, Network Rail and TransPennine Express working together. It's great news for local people and hopefully the new car park and the East Riding Council's new parking initiative will lead to improvements all round."
