"I was very disappointed that all 47 of the Conservative members of the Council voted to reduce the Social Services budget at the meeting on July 25th," said Cllr Mary Kingston Lib Dem spokesperson for Social Services. "By getting rid of the criteria for giving Home Care to those with moderate needs, present users of the service will suffer."
All opposition members of the Council voted in favour of an amendment put forward by Cllr Mary Kingston to retain the then current Fair Access to Care criteria. Forewarning of this move was given before the local elections in May but the decision was delayed until the elections were over.
